“When the storyteller tells the truth, she reminds us that human beings are more alike than unalike… A story is what it’s like to be a human being-to be knocked down and to miraculously arise. Each one of us has arisen, awakened. We do rise.” – Maya Angelou

Mindfulness, writing, and life are all journeys. Every breath, every word, every interaction is its own unique practice. These journeys inform and deepen each other. As a longtime professional writer/writing teacher and meditator/mindfulness teacher, I have found that mindfulness helps break down writer’s block and build up authentic self-expression.

Please join us for our upcoming Mindful Writing Workshop online through Zoom. Zoom link provided upon registration. I will be offering a series of unique talks, meditations, mindfulness writing exercises, and optional discussion/sharing corresponding to progressive parts of the writing and self-expression process. Themes we will explore include beginning the journey/beginner’s mind, not knowing, inner wisdom, mentors, heralds, shapeshifters, heroes, tricksters, villains, conflict, resolution, and turning one’s increased sense of community and connection with the world into meaningful action.

As Terry Tempest Williams wrote: “I write to make peace with the things I cannot control. I write to create red in a world that often appears black and white. I write to discover. I write to uncover. I write to meet my ghosts. I write to begin a dialogue. I write to imagine things differently and in imagining things differently perhaps the world will change.”

This will be your mindful writing daylong journey to spend as you choose. You are free to join in the formal teachings as much or little as you wish. It is completely fine to quietly arrive late or leave early.

We will meet from 10-4pm.
